About Evan

Evan Arkush

My name is Evan. I am a personal trainer in San Francisco and I have been riding motorcycles for about fifteen years. I enjoy all aspects of riding, improving my own abilities through a variety of experiences and year-round saddle time. My experiences include commuting here in San Francisco (every day is a new adventure), riding both sport and dirt tracks, and jaunting across the world to places like Thailand, rural Cambodia, urban Spain as well as the dense, gritty streets of Saigon (some truly exhilarating places to be on a bike!).

I began motorcycle instruction several years ago among friends who wanted to learn to ride. It wasn’t a huge departure from teaching fitness. One day a compliment on my clear and thoughtful methods turned into a suggestion that I expand this service. I thought that was a pretty good idea so I began modestly by posting my lessons on good old Craigslist. I’ve had a lot of fun mentoring so many improving riders! Now, six years into it I have guided several hundred novice and intermediate motorcyclists to new levels of confidence. The five-star reviews on Yelp attest to that.

…Sometimes I get asked why I’ve named my business “Monkey Moto School.”
A couple of reasons: An old girlfriend (who remains one of my closest pals) always calls me “Monkey.” I suppose I do kind of channel the monkey spirit with my energy and mannerisms. Then I remembered that I was born in the Chinese year of the monkey. And ultimately, I guess I just like monkeys.

It is my privilege as an instructor to direct students towards lowering the risks while increasing their enjoyment on two wheels. I hope you will allow me to get you there as well. Call 415-359-6479 to get started today.
